Is Olive Oil The Perfect Fruit Juice?

Is Olive Oil The Perfect Fruit Juice?

February 12, 2021

We have been maintaining a list of olive oil nutrition facts for more than twenty years at Temecula Olive Oil Company. We are probably not the first ones to do so either. In fact, olive oil has been coveted since ancient times in part because of the multitude of health benefits it provides.

Today, the juice of the olive fruit has been scientifically proven to be an essential part of a healthy diet, because of the high levels of monounsaturated fats and antioxidants.

Olive oil is regarded as one of the greatest oils because it is the single, naturally-produced oil together with the largest source of monounsaturated fats and is the only one that can be absorbed from the freshly-pressed fruit just as is, like orange juice. The health benefits of olive oil - an essential part of the Mediterranean diet are credited to enhancing heart healthiness and life spans of the people of that area.

Among olive oil nutrition facts are studies demonstrating that monounsaturated fats, such as Omega-3s, Omega-6s and Omega-9s all found at their optimal balance in olive oil, decrease LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels while increasing HDL ("good") cholesterol levels, which allows cholesterol to move freely to the liver to be eliminated rather than being deposited on artery walls and forming blood clots as it travels throughout the bloodstream.

This enables the body maintain healthy blood pressure levels and reduces risk of heart disease - a leading cause of death in Western cultures. Additionally, an olive oil rich diet has been proven to increase brain health, help prevent or delay the beginning of diabetes and lead to greater weight loss than a low fat diet plan.

Further notable of the olive oil nutrition facts is that it is an excellent source of antioxidants. Oxidation occurs naturally within the human body, giving rise to"free radicals" (unstable atoms and molecules) that can lead to normal cell function deterioration or cellular death, unless there is a balance between healthy cells and free radicals.

Antioxidants, like those found in olive oil, help maintain that balance, reducing the effects of aging and risk of developing cancer. In fact, studies show a direct correlation between a diet rich in olive oil and the control of colo-rectal cancer and skin cancers.

Anyone familiar with olive oil nutrition facts understands that the very best olive oil comes from the first pressing of the fruit, called"extra virgin olive oil". Extra virgin olive oil is the purest form of olive oil and therefore the many nutrient-rich.

Substituting 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil each day for saturated fats, such as animal and dairy fats, will enhance your health indoors and outside. Temecula Olive Oil Company makes it easy to take advantage of the health benefits of olive oil when you substitute other oils in your favorite recipes with flavorful, fresh California extra virgin olive oil.

Great and Delicious New Ways To Use Balsamic Vinegar

Great and Delicious New Ways To Use Balsamic Vinegar

February 11, 2021

Balsamic Vinegar is made from fermented wine grapes barrel-aged for years and years that creates a well balanced, rich, tasty vinegar.

A vinegar so versatile that it can be utilized in everything from snacks, appetizers, main dishes, side dishes.... and desserts! We are sharing four of our favorite, not so typical ways to enjoy balsamic.

BALSAMIC, PROSCIUTTO, & PECORINO WATERMELON

Watermelon is at its peak freshness through the summer time and we can't get sufficient this year. This dish is perfect for anyone who craves a great sweet and salty combo. Watermelon is often enjoyed with cheeses like feta and goat cheese.

We chose this idea, place an Italian twist on it, and the outcome just may top the original inspiration. This recipe is perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or little snack. Make the watermelon bites into skewers, or plate as a salad and revel in.

INGREDIENTS

1/4 Average Size Watermelon, cut into 1 inch cubes

4 ounce wedge Pecorino Toscano, cut into thin 1 inch slices

3 oz Volpi Prosciutto, cut into 1 inch pieces

Balsamic Vinegar (to taste)

Fresh Ground Pepper (to taste)

Arrange cubed watermelon onto a large plate. Top with a piece of Pecorino Toscano and Volpi Prosciutto. Finish with fresh ground pepper and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. If you decide to serve as a salad, leave as is. If you decide to make as an appetizer, protected with a wooden appetizer skewer.

Recipe makes 40-50 skewers

BALSAMIC GELATO

This recipe is as straightforward as it sounds! Balsamic Gelato enhances the balsamic into a sweetness not usually experienced in typical balsamic recipes.

For this recipe, we are using a simple vanilla gelato, however, a balsamic drizzle works great on chocolate, hazelnut, and chocolate chip as well. Topped with fresh fruit, this dessert is sophisticated and refreshing.

INGREDIENTS

3 scoops of favorite gelato or ice cream

Balsamic Vinegar (to taste)

Fresh Fruit (optional)

Scoop gelato of selection into a bowl. Top with fresh fruit such as strawberries, peaches, or rasberries. Finish off with a drizzle of balsamic and enjoy!

TOMATO BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE

We could not get through a whole balsamic article without providing a new balsamic vinaigrette. Tomato Balsamic has an invigorating sweet and savory flavor. Its rich, unique flavor is best used in dishes complimented by the flavor of tomatoes.

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon Tomato Balsamic Vinegar

3 tablespoons Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Tomato Balsamic Vinaigrette is so simple, however it adds a new dynamic flavor to an otherwise original dressingtable. This vinaigrette functions on essentially everything from salads, to seafood dishes, meat and more.
